Therapies

Stem Cells are the body’s foundational cells- essentially, the source from which all other types of cells originate. You can think of stem cells as the body’s internal repair crew. When you are injured or ill, they can travel to the affected area and assist in healing by regenerating damaged tissues.

What are the different types of

Stem Cells?

Understanding the different types of stem cells can be confusing. Please speak to a health provider at Blue Ribbon Stem if you have any questions.

Allogenic Stem Cells

Stem Cells are considered to be allogenic if they are sourced from a person other than the person receiving them. This can be a matched relation or an unrelated donor.

Autologous Stem Cells

Stem Cells are considered to be autologous if they are collected from the same patient who is receiving them. This can be done through apheresis, bone marrow collection, liposuction, or umbilical cords.

Mesenchymal Stem Cells

These cells can be either allogenic or autologous, but are adult stem cells which can develop into a variety of cell types.

Embryonic Stem Cells

Embryonic Stem Cells are a type of pluripotent stem cell derived from early-stage embryos, usually around 3–5 days after fertilization. We do not use embryonic stem cells at Blue Ribbon Stem.
